Greg Fraser founded The Bottled Baking Co in 2017 after finding a passion for simplifying baking with his 2 year old son and we LOVE the product. Easy to use, great to entertain the kids and tastes great.

Following the success of spotlight on suppliers, we are continuing to share stories of how our suppliers came about and how they have coped during a pandemic.

What gave you the idea for The Bottled Baking Co?

I started the business about 4 years ago as a way to bake with my then 2 year old son who loved the cartoon branded boxes you get in the supermarket, but I found they tasted very bland! So we’d bake from scratch together. Layering the ingredients in a bottle meant we could talk about what was going in to the mixture, plus shaking it all out was a lot of fun!

How have you found the last 12 months?

The last 12 months have seen our sales more than double as everyone started to bake more at home, which is amazing. Our biggest challenges have been making enough stock in a COVID secure environment and being able to scale up to ship as many orders out as we do now. We’ve recently moved in to new premises which should give us plenty of room for the foreseeable.

Have you learned anything new in the last 12 months that you will be keeping even once life returns to ‘normal’?

That you need to split home and work life better when running your own business. I still work full time in a day job as well as running The Bottled Baking Co and balancing family life. Which means lines can be blurred when working on all of those things at the same time. Taking some phone free time out for a run, a bike ride or playing some games is so valuable!

A lot of our packages are sent for people going through something, whether that’s illness or a break up or a tough time at work. What’s your go-to product or thing to do when you’re feeling the need for TLC?

Chocolate. I am a chocolate fiend! It has to be milk or white chocolate, of any variety! As long as it’s not a boozy sort, don’t like those at all.

What is the best gift someone has ever bought for you?

The best gift I think I’ve had is a trip to Budapest. It was just a couple of nights away bit it was such a lovely city and the outdoor spa there was amazing!

What makes you laugh?

My son makes me laugh a lot, some of the things he says are hilarious.

Words to live by?

Stay Home, Eat Cake. Though maybe that should now be See some friends, eat cake!

Finally, seeing as we are sharing this Spotlight on World Baking Day, it would be wrong not to ask a question about cake! So, if you had to make and eat one cake (or biscuit) every day for the rest of your life, what cake would that be?

Ooh, this is a tough one, there are far too many to choose from! I’d say it has to be a basic birthday cake, the type with a vanilla sponge, jam layer in the middle, smothered in buttercream and with rolled icing over the top. I could happily just eat the buttercream and rolled icing all day long. Is that wrong?! I didn’t think so 😉

The Spectacular Smartie Cookie Mix is available to add in our Create a Kids Package.
